A veteran of the marketing and advertising business, Pat D’Amico is a watercolor portrait artist of the first order residing in Derry, New Hampshire. He has been painting children and adults for nearly 30 years. Pat’s heart lies in human portraiture. Perhaps that's because likeness, while difficult in any medium, is especially challenging in watercolor due to its fluidity and unpredictability. It’s a medium full of surprises. Here’s what a fellow artist said recently…

“The delicate and translucent nature of watercolor breathes life into portraits like no other medium. Pat gets a warm look and strong likeness in his subjects that takes advantage of this classic painting method.”  — Tom Monahan, artist and Providence Art Club instructor

Pat's portraits hangs in homes from San Francisco to Palm Beach and throughout New England. "I find it very rewarding to know that my portraits will be handed down from generation to generation, long after I am gone," says Pat. Because of the longevity required of a portrait, he uses acid-free watercolor paper and mounting adhesive, high-quality Windsor Newton paints, and crystal clear New England purified water to paint. Pat works from photos and, if desired, will email progressive photos of the painting back to clients as he moves through the painting process.
